The Sangre 229 is a different animal altogether from Ramon Chavez with utility functionality at the forefront of its design. If you're looking for something from Ramon, but not his Redencion or its similar Liberation brother, the Sangre is the model for you. It pairs a Wharncliffe blade with a slender, tapered titanium handle that is reminiscent of Ramon's famed 228 design. It's wildly comfortable, even with its squared-off edges, and you get an extremely solid grip on this robust folder. The frame lock features a replaceable lockbar insert/overtravel arrestor and the knife is complete with a partial titanium backspacer. If Ramon Chavez has been on your wish list for a while but remains outside your price point, then check out a Chaves Ultramar. For the money, there isn't a better mid-tech type production knife that we can think of.
